Burning Man...

Feeling nostalgic that for the first time in 6 years, we won't be going to Burning Man. Many of our friends left today for the desert. It feels strange to be home and to know that my orange tutu and wings are in Black Rock City...

Hi Andrea
I also couldn't go to BM this year. I hurt my foot last Friday (got stitches) and was forced to stay home. Oh! I know what you mean... BM is a special ritual for me too... I so wanted to get dust this week!
On the other hand, I had A LOT of time to think about how to start my own business. And you have really been a great discovery! Thanks for the inpiring site and work!
I think we have much more than "BM craving" in common :)

whoops, I meant photography instead of poetry but I guess it works all the same.

I've always loved his poetry and that tutu is fantastic.

andrea,

what a great picture. the colors are so alive. it reminds me of one of your necklaces.

so sad to hear you are not attending burning man. i remember the story last year about you getting tickets last minute from graig's list.

i am sure there are good reasons you decided to stay, focus on those and look forward to your friends coming home to tell you about their crazy adventures.

That's a beautiful photo of you and your friends! I've only heard bits about Burning Man, but it seems like an incredible experience, one that really affects members of the community, and that I hope to experience someday!

i understand your nostalgia of missing a ritual like burning man.

for me, the ritual is not working the us open. there are lots of little things that i miss like seeing andy roddick warm up outside my office. BUT there are tons of things that i finally got to do this year like see plays that were part of the fringe festival AND most importantly i got to be part of the protest yesterday in NYC. it was awesome. i was so happy to be able to protest with my little disco bag with bush face and a set of cross bones silkscreened on it. a friend got it for me...he really knows what i like. and then another friend gave me a great pin "drop dead rnc" with upside down republican elephants. i was able to join in many chants "bush, move out the way, move out the way nnooowww" as well as shake my butt with the beat to the drums. the republicans are still here. why don't they get it...nyc is not there type of town.

you will find something wonderful to do to fill up your time! ;)

I adore this photo!! You all look as though you are having the time of your lives. I love your orange tutu. And the wings are "pretty happening" as well. I've always wanted to go to burning man, and it never seemed to work out, but I have so enjoyed living the experience vicariously through you and this blog. Sorry you aren't going this year...But maybe it's your time to do something even more fun and magnificent. :)
