homework

Central Park last week, Canon Digital Rebel

One of my favorite things about Rob Brezsny's newsletter are his homework assignments. This week's is:
"Pretend to already be something you're on your way to becoming."

Every time I read that line, I am transported, if only for a moment.

Books I just bought {very excited}:
The Girl in the Flammable Skirt by Aimee Bender
A Wish Can Change Your Life by Gahl Sasson, Steve Weinstein {via Kate}
Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs

Hi there. I don't remember how I stumbled upon your blog, but I read it every day. You're photos are beautiful and you give out good energy. Thank you for sharing.

Andrea,

Wonderful link. I love Rob's blog. Thank you for sharing. I am putting this quote above my desk... imagine if we all tried this every day. Even if for just a moment, wonder what would happen.

Hi Andrea! Loved seeing your work and you at the trunk show yesterday. I had an epiphany about art and writing and different ways of being in the world on the way home. I immediately got to work gardening, planting colorful veggies (who knew you could grow yellow carrots, purple radishes or beets with swirls?) and even looked at my half completed mosaic stepping stones with new wonder. Today I bought a sketch pad and fun new paints. This was all before reading the homework assignment - yet how synchronistic. Aloha

I wonder Andrea, what/who is it you are on your way to becoming? I'm not so sure i have a clear enough view of my own path, perhaps because i don't ask myself often enough, or, as Brezsny suggests, pretend I'm already there.

I'll try to keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip.

I just love this photo. It reminds me of being 'back east'...

Did you read Aimee's other book, "An Invisible Sign of my own"? One of my faves!! Love to hear what you think of the short stories! I keep checking here to see if there is any news of a new book:
