I agree, these photobooks make wonderful presents indeed. Last year I created one (through the kodak gallery www.kodakgallery.com) for my husband, not only using photos but also scanned images of theatre ticket stubs, dinner receipts, airline boarding passes and other memorabilia that I kept throughout the year. He absolutely loved it.
This year I used the iPhoto (MAC) service which is great, too. Apart from leather or cloth hardcovers they also offer wonderful softcover photobooks at very reasonable prices. As I live abroad this makes a great annual gift for my parents.
