January 26, 2006Animal friends
This is our dog friend Ua (means rain in Hawaiian) who has been our almost constant companion this trip. Below is a little cat we met at a roadside coconut candy stand on the Hana highway.
2 things (of many) I love about Hana:

Ua is just adorable. Posted by: Sonia at January 29, 2006 03:47 PMi just want to go give that cow a great big kiss. p.s My cat's name is Meka (which is Hawaiian for 'eyes'). She is all black and has the greenest eyes ever. It's pretty neat to see her in another room, under an object and because she's so black you can kind of make out where she is... then she blinks and she disappears. My siberian huskies name is Kiko... which in Hawaiian means 'spot'. Beautiful pictures as usual! Posted by: beeb at January 27, 2006 10:16 AMi'm so glad to finally see what an egret looks like. mary oliver is always mentioning them in her poetry and although i assumed it was a bird i had never seen one. Posted by: la vie en rose at January 27, 2006 08:35 AMLast time I was in Hawaii, we made a point of traveling from an east-facing beach to a west-facing beach in the middle of the day. That way, we saw the sun rise AND set over the ocean in the same day! Posted by: amandarin at January 27, 2006 08:06 AMlove egrets! Posted by: Felicity at January 27, 2006 06:34 AMThat sounds like South Africa - with the sun rising over the ocean and the cows with their own egrets :) Posted by: Melany at January 26, 2006 10:09 PMI want to go back to Hawaii. I haven't been in 21 years (I was 7) and considering my passion for surfing and my love of beauty I am definitely due for a visit soon. Hana sounds just dreamy... I can see why your friends moved there. Posted by: Jenn at January 26, 2006 06:52 PMThese photos will give you so many smiles when you look at the in six months time, you'll remember exactly how happy and relaxed you are right now.
