magical baby

green_hat_porcupine.jpg
ben, 2 months old, Canon Digital Rebel XTi

Sometimes he's so cute I can't even believe it. It's as if he's not human...more like a magical creature. More like a unicorn. Or maybe a unicorn crossed with a rainbow and the aurora borealis. A unicorn that smells like cherry blossoms and the air after a nice rain.

sigh.

This is how the species lives on.

The pictures of your little guy make me incredibly happy. What an adorable little fella!

Posted by: wendee at February 17, 2007 07:58 PM

Yes.
Mine is one month old tomorrow and every day he is more delicious to me. I'm afraid when learns how to smile I might spontaneously combust from the bliss. And Ben is beautiful; these photos capture such a special spirit.

I'm totally with you. I truly believed during my son's infancy that he might be Curious George reincarnated. He had a CG onesie that he nearly wore out because I dressed him in it so often. Those were great, sweet days. Now he is ten and we have baby kittens running around our bedroom to make us coo. I say every day they are the cutest things I've ever seen but they cannot hold a candle to the boy. Enjoy.

God, he is so beautiful! Look at the love in his eyes. So pure, such a miracle. Just look at his face. You don't even have to know him just to love him.

Bless you,

Nathalie

Can't tell you how much I"ve been enjoying reading/seeing your journey here! He IS a beauty. It's just a photo -- not the real thing -- and I just keep staring! Sending you hugs and love.

Ever since his first appearance in the blog world, I've been captivated by him (and I'm not a baby person...IMO kids are more fun and cute after six months). Most babies have that wrinkled, old man, not quite finished yet look about them. Not Ben. He's always looked so alert, so aware of what is going on around him. I think when babies are really truly wanted and loved, it shows up in all kinds of neat ways. And yeah, there's some magic there.

Posted by: Kelly at February 12, 2007 11:01 AM

what a magical child with a magical old soul!!! i can't resist smiling back at him.

i always amazes me how, just through our words and pictures, we are able to feel connected with each other. yay for blogging!

cuteness saves indeed. i know it has saved me from going crazy many a time over here in our little fun-crazy three-kid (6,4 and 2 year olds) home.

Posted by: Kat at February 12, 2007 07:51 AM

You're kid is crazy beautiful! He seems like an old soul.

He really does look like he has something big to say to all of us! Babies are amazing- and to think we were all like this...

Posted by: Regina Clare Jane at February 10, 2007 09:19 PM

I know Jen already wrote it, but seriously, he looks like such an old soul. I feel like his first words are going to be something deep and Buddha-ish. He is so effing cute!

Bunches of love and blessings to all 3 of you. You guys really couldn't be any cuter.

Posted by: amy at February 10, 2007 07:26 PM

What a wonderful sentiment. When I saw the picture I had to show my husband. He's a darling! We are awaiting the arrival of our first grandson any day now. I can hardly wait!

Yep, A magic Unicorn wrapped in rainbow dipped chocolate chip happiness.

I keep being struck by Mr. Benjamin's presence. And I'm so happy other comment-kateers are saying that they are seeing it too! Again, a very special person's in there! Well done you two!

Posted by: Shelley Noble at February 10, 2007 05:44 PM

I think maybe Ben is a wise, old soul...
I see it in his sparkly eyes and his wry little baby smile.
Not to mention that his cuteness factor is off the charts!
How blessed are you??

there is some danger in posting these pictures, you know? all i want to do is find ben and kiss him. it makes waiting for my little boys almost unbearable and yet, so very easy. you must be an amazing mommy to bring such light to his eyes.

Posted by: mamie at February 10, 2007 12:34 PM

Posted by: Lindsey ALyce at February 10, 2007 10:09 AM

His eyes look as though he's looking right into your soul, but that little smile hints at some wonderful secret he's keeping!!

Posted by: Pamela at February 10, 2007 08:59 AM

Every parent is biased about how cute their babies are...but he really is exceptionally adorable. Very photogenic...a very nice gift from God for a photographer. He started smiling so young!

I have been reading your blog since the summer, I haven't taken the plunge yet, but feel it coming on. I have really enjoyed your blog and now have a new favorite band, The Weepies(favorite song-Painting by Chagall.) Thank you! But what I like most...is the photos of this very special babe. I thought I had the cutest babes in the world, my first is still very cute at sixteen. I go to your blog sometimes, just to see his lovely face. My daughter and I just finished oohhing and ahhing over the latest post, thanking for sharing his deliciousness. Congratulations, enjoy the sweet, sweet ride.

It's so nice to hear you are able to bask in the joy of this little being in your home. Not only is he fortunate to be have you, a mom that chooses to take his magic to heart, but he looks like such a fortunate little man because he is infused with a very happy and lively spirit. Best to you both.

He looks like a magical little fairy (you know what I mean by fairy)that could grant you a wish with a blink of his eye. I have always been in awwwww of babies and young children because they been out of the spirit world for just a short time...they are the closest to the heavens and angels of anything on this earth. Blesses to little Ben and to you.

Posted by: Jessica at February 9, 2007 02:22 PM

He's got the magic happy eyes. There is a lot of warmth and good and happy energy coming from those eyes. I love all the Ben pictures because they make me smile!
