perfect lines

white_lily.jpg
white lily, Canon Digital Rebel XTi

Sometimes I am amazed by a perfect line. A naked branch silhouetted against the sky with exactly the right twisted path, the curve of somebody's perfect shell of an ear, or the way this flower is not just a gorgeous white specimen but has that incredible spiral and green leaf next to it.

My world feels pretty small in a lot of ways right now. I have to remind myself that studying (and appreciating) the micro parts of my universe is important. It's like a meditation... all of it.

And then there's the internet when I am tired of meditating:

Hi Andrea

I had to start appreciating all the tiny little things when I got ill with ME/CFS and my world shrunk amazingly it was a gift in the end.

That is a gorgeous picture!

I spent all day in Berkeley yesterday, and sent out love and goodness to you (and, secretly, hoped I would run into you so that I could bite that little baby---heh).

Happy Friday!

I'm too tired right now to clearly say anything much but I will say:
A) I too am thinking similar thoughts. I'm at a temp job that one could think of is boring, but I have a view of the Hudson River clear down to Staten Island from my cubical, and I like to watch the light change day to day, hour to hour. If I leave NYC, I'll miss things like this.
B) Your picture looks like a Georgia O'Keeffe painting, and that is not a complament I throw around lightly. Stunning.

Thank you so much for sharing these. Lately my world has been feeling pretty small too, and I'm slowly turning that around. I love finding things like these fun websites on the internet. Thank you!!

I love curly swirly lines..and this photo makes me want to dive into the bloom of this lily or float for a while on it's leaf.
