Ever since I was a kid, I have made almost all of my gifts for my parents. What began as painted rocks and handmade cards has evolved into photo books. I'm getting a little bit predictable these days, but no one seems to mind. I am addicted to the Shutterfly photo book! They are incredibly easy to put together, especially if you have a digital camera. Just upload a collection of photos to the site, and they will help you build your own hardcover book (complete with a die cut cover) The above pic is the a screen shot of the book I made my dad last year. It was filled with photos of my sister and me, our weddings and trips to visit them, all the way up to the birth of my nephew Caleb. My dad must have called me five times that week in total awe and tears of joy. "This is my family..." he said over and over. "This is my family..." ... I have also heard excellent things about Blurb for making books of all kinds. And if the book ideas don't call to you, visit Mighty Girl's Father's Day gift guide for more great ideas. Comments

Definitely a fun gift idea! And just in case you ever want something extra special... I do custom handbound books! anything you want I am there... I love to help out in the most thoughtful of gifts! Posted by: kate at June 7, 2007 08:09 PMWhat a wonderful gift idea!! I've wanted to do something similar on my own, but this would be much easier. Someone just passed the link to your blog to me, and I have to say it's wonderful. You have a beautiful family. Posted by: cynthia at June 7, 2007 07:25 AMI'm addicted to photo books too! Aren't they great?! I just ordered my first *magazine* type perfect bound booklet of photos of my art project from Viovio, I'll report how it looks. Posted by: Shelley Noble at June 6, 2007 11:23 PMI'm a big fan of the photo books also. Rather than printing and distributing photos from my wedding, I made photo books for the parents for Christmas. Will be doing the same with my recently born son, especially since my family lives thousands of miles away. Posted by: phillippa at June 6, 2007 09:58 AMI love this idea. Does anyone know how Shutterfly photo books compare with iPhoto books? Posted by: linda at June 5, 2007 10:27 PMI'm sure your dad is so proud of his girls and their babies. Posted by: Jennifer at June 5, 2007 06:22 PMHandmade gifts are definitely the best. The time you put into it is worth much more than the money! I love getting handmade gifts, especially when I know a lot of thought went into them. your photography is excellent :-) Posted by: Sabine at June 5, 2007 03:08 PMgreat idea...and so much easier than scrapbooking...
