September 25, 2007window seat
This is the view from my flight into Los Angeles this weekend to see my dear Weepies. My first solo weekend away from Ben was a success! It felt good to be my own girl for a couple of days and Ben didn't seem to notice. (I'm trying not to take that personally! :)
Thank God for window seats. Posted on September 25, 2007 04:17 PMComments
what a beauty. it's just wonderful how the loops of trees echo the shape of the interchange. just fabulous. Posted by: john curley at October 4, 2007 11:08 PMTell me about it! Flying, and more importantly, looking through the window seat, is always so refreshing and beautiful. Seeing that everything (and everything in my life) is so small compared to the scale of the earth really puts things into perspective for me. Hi there, my comment is actually unrelated to your stunning skydiving pictures:) I'm a mom to two gorgeous sons, 2 and a half, and 5 months old. I add to my sleep deprivation by surfing inspiring sites like your's late at night. Loved the beautiful letters you wrote to your son so much, I started reading your archives! Noticed that you mentioned poor weight, gain yet refusal to eat - (we are talking about the baby off course!). Well, here I feel compelled to do what Moms love to do even more than taking photographs of their cute offspring: I'm gonna offer FREE ADVICE! I had a similar experience with my first son and we tried a lot advice to get him to gain weight. Instead he started dropping below the curve on the weight chart, even after he went onto solids. He still was a very bright happy child though. Eventually got him to the right pediatritian who had an AHA moment when I mentioned a lump under his arm. Sent him for blood test and confirmed that he contracted a localized type of TB from the shot he received in hospital when he was born. We live in South Africa and I don't even know if you get these shots where you are, but if so, it might be worth checking it out. We went on to put him onto TB medication for 6 months - also had to go under surgery to remove the infection under his arm- and he is now a very healthy still bright boy who caught up very well weight wize. Let's just say that it is very unusual for baby's to get this from their immunisations, but if it is the case, you'd want to know. Wishing you health and many happy moments with your son. Are you sure you didn't take these shots while skydiving? Like the others, I am amazed at the quality of these. Must be all about the quality of the photographer :-) Are you sure you didn't take these shots while skydiving? Like the others, I am amazed at the quality of these. I really respect women who trust their partner, family, friends to care for their baby while they refill their well. My sister left my nephew with me first when he was three months and she just needed to breath. I was terrified, we were fine! PS: I also think the Weepies, and the lovely Deb Talan make music like magic. Every song generates a real emotion in me. Posted by: Frida at September 26, 2007 08:51 PMWow, I just had my first trip away from Simon last week...it wasnt that fun, it was work, but I made it through, and like you, im not sure he noticed, lol. But he was super excited when i got home. So im taking it the way we took every thing the first few months "He isn't crying he must like it" so he wasnt crying, he must have missed me. So glad you had a great time. We did it, we both survived (umm not that im planning another getaway from him soon) but if i want to, i know i can! glad to see you posting so often! Posted by: Kelly Byrom at September 26, 2007 08:30 PMI love-love-love The Weepies. I saw them play a little show at the WYEP radio studios in Pittsburgh awhile back, and was blown away by their perfect lyrics and harmonies. And they seemed so real and humble. I wanted to buy a CD right then and there, but they were out. So Steve sold me one of Deb's CDs instead. It's lovely, of course. Tell them I want to hang out with them, too! :) (And do tell how you got such wonderful shots from the plane!) Posted by: Jennifer/The Word Cellar at September 26, 2007 07:14 PMi have the same question as leah - usually my plane windows are yellowish, scratched and filthy. all i get is a great photo with spots and junk on it. Posted by: denise at September 26, 2007 06:12 PMAmazing shots! Posted by: Angela Klocke at September 26, 2007 05:12 PMOh! That is so fantastic! I love doing that too. Makes any flight way more entertaining. Actually, I usually end up enticing whoever is sitting next to me to take their own picture too! Good times... A, Love these pics...seeing them makes me want to get on a plane with the lovely eat pray love and go somewhere I've never been. I love the weepies. I have such envy that you know the people behind those amazingly lovely voices. I am glad you survived your weekend away. xoxox jenn Posted by: Jenn at September 26, 2007 04:07 PMBeautiful pics Andrea! They make me wistful for the days when I could just plan a trip, get on plane and be in my own little world for a while. Nothing like being eye level with clouds and seeing the land from above:) Thanks for sharing the beauty. Glad you had some free time to yourself! -Leia Posted by: Leia at September 26, 2007 02:37 PMGood for you! It took me over 2 years to leave my daughter.. I hope you had a wonderful time! Isn't it strange not to turn around looking for them every 2 minutes? But wonderful too? Paige Posted by: Paige at September 26, 2007 01:14 PMThe road goes on forever and the party never ends... How exciting! Posted by: Maggie Ann at September 26, 2007 12:56 PMI remember my music teacher telling me that a critic had once said that the language spoken in heaven was Mozart's music. I was flying over these cottonball-like clouds once and listening to Mozart's Mass in c minor. It was so beautiful that I was convinced we were flying through heaven. Nice photos! I like the "8" in the last one. Posted by: Ava at September 26, 2007 12:03 PMHow do you take such great pictures out of a little scratchy airplane window?? I have always fantasized about having a tour guide sitting next to me on a plane who could tell me what rivers, towns, etc. I was looking at. But even without one, looking down from a plane was how I discovered my new favorite place: Sandy Hook, NJ. Posted by: Leah at September 26, 2007 11:56 AMI looooooooooved "The Weepies"...I am crossing the three hour long line to get into San Diego, just to go and buy the CD. Thank You!!! xxx love that last photo... oh, :) xx funny you post these pictures...when I was flying back from Michigan we flew through the most brilliant clouds and I wished I had my camera so I could share the sight. Its like another world up there... Posted by: Jessica at September 26, 2007 10:52 AMA little time to yourself & The Weepies, seems like a pretty good way to spend a few days for much needed R&R, I am sure!
