Meatpaper Issue One is available at bookstores now! Find Meatpaper at Barnes & Noble and Hastings stores, as well as independent bookstores and newsstands nationwide. Or you can subscribe. Congratulations Sasha!

From the editor's letter, a bit about what Meatpaper is:
Meatpaper is neither a pro- nor an anti-meat soapbox, nor is it a competitor with the many glossy food magazines already available. Meatpaper is an investigation into what we see as a growing cultural trend of meat consciousness. It explores a category of food that inspires intense emotions and reactions. Meatpaper is about meat as a provocative cultural symbol and phenomenon.

Congrats to Sasha... although I must admit for some odd reason I can eat chicken, seafood and fish no problem.. but when it comes to meat... oi. No can do! I used to be vegan/vegetarian for awhile. Anywhoo - hooray for free thinking, independent women :)

Attagirl, Sasha!

I just subscribed so I can get Meatpaper all.year.long! I was hesitant until I read the article from Issue Zero about the slaughter in Italy...very powerful and really makes you think about the process of meat - instead of just in the plastic wraped packages we find in stores.

I can't wait to read more.

It's great that she is launching this venture for herself - yet at the same time - I am sick to my stomach thinking people are so used to meat and not what is behind that - that everything around meat becomes desensitized. Gruesome, sad pictures in that magazine.
