Ben talks to angels

This is your adorable little friend (10 months old today) standing up for the first time in his crib! We had to promptly lower his mattress after this tremendous feat.

*Please note the moments in the video when Ben is clearly getting props from the angels or perhaps having a chat with god himself.

nothing better than having a chat with God and finishing it up with a decent poo:)

Just adorable!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but when I was little I used to have an 'Imaginary Friend', and my parents were so proud. It was very realistic -I would stop in the middle of conversations and look up and start a different conversations with the 'Friend'.

And then one day when I was three it told me to kill my mom. :O

So be careful about these 'angels'. They could very well be demons masquerading as angels.

...I hope that doesn't sound too freaky!

Ha! What a sweetie! I love that he's so pleased with himself. You're going to have such a little chatterbox on your hands when he finally gets those words formed and out. :)

Why surely Ben was getting props from his guides on the other side...a spiritual high-five... ;)

Thanks so much for sharing... His proud little smile and grunts just made my evening. You've inspired me to film my little one more often...

I watched this video with my 22 month old daughter in my lap. She was quiet the whole time and at the end she said to me, "he wants out of his cribbie."

I know a priest who says that babies and old people get along so well b/c they both are closer to God than the rest of us: babies are just from God, and the old-old people are on their way to God, and they like to pass on messages from each other. I remember when my son (now almost 4) would look just over my head or up at his ceiling with this moment of clear recognition, I would think: those must be the angels checking on their charge! Same thing when he would laugh in his sleep. Part of the joy of parenting is kind of experiencing everything again for the first time. What a gift.

So adorable. It is as though he speaks in his photos so that seeing he's a baby still is wild! His future wife will love that you've made all these gorgeous things about Ben's growing up.

(*note to Andrea to check online for the brand of crip with a known design/instruction flaw that has the walls upside down when lowering the mattress. Important for Beb ben to make sure yours or anyone you know's is not that model. Photos of correct installation here for you: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=3640616)

This video is so cool. I loved hearing your responses. So did he fill his diaper? It definately looks like he was talking to someone too. What a way to make someone smile. I'm also lovin' the groovey pictures below ;)

andrea, you are so right, he is talking to angels.

Posted by: Jessica at October 9, 2007 01:53 PM

He always looks like such a little adult in his pictures. I don't know if I expected him to talk like an adult or what but that video was a surprise to me!

He's a baby!! A delightful, adorable baby! LMAO. Thanks so much for sharing it. Wonderful!

Hi, Ben!

Posted by: tiffany at October 9, 2007 09:21 AM

This is so adorable. It warms my heart to see little people doing big things. I laughed at Ben's cuteness and the prowess of his accomplishment. This is a very, very good way to start the day. Thank you for sharing it.

Posted by: Pam at October 9, 2007 07:13 AM

What a fabulous way to start my day! Ben is so adorable and becoming such a little man. Way to go, Ben! Keep talking to those angels and God - they'll help you tons in the days, years to come. :)

Posted by: ~moe~ at October 9, 2007 06:57 AM

That was so great! We must sound alike, because Echo ran to the computer and wanted to know why I was talking to a baby that WASN'T HIM! We watched it several times and he insists that I'm the one talking.

Posted by: kristyk at October 9, 2007 06:52 AM

So adorable! You can tell he is so proud of himself!

Posted by: Andrea at October 9, 2007 06:41 AM

Oh, that is just too precious! To be honest, I loved hearing your reactions as much as watching Ben... isn't parenthood just such a wonder?

I love his facial expressions, especially when he's first able to stand up: "Whoa! What did I just do?! That was the. best. thing. ever."

Also love the "Okay, time out" at the end.

Posted by: Dr. S at October 9, 2007 04:57 AM

oh he is adorable! and so clever! i love that the angels were cheering him on - and they so were :-)

Posted by: susannah at October 9, 2007 04:56 AM

He is so proud of himself! And he has a lot to say, huh? He was definitely talking to someone, his angel who was cheering him on perhaps.

Posted by: Kelly at October 9, 2007 04:13 AM

The whole time I was watching I was thinking: ooooh lower that mattress...

He's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing him.

Posted by: blackbird at October 9, 2007 03:58 AM

i can't believe it's 10 months already! i remember reading you when you were still struggling to get pregnant... and now, look! your baby is ten months old! it's incredible.

Posted by: christine at October 8, 2007 11:36 PM

Seriously, Ben and Sam (11 months tomorrow) have got to be soul friends from a previous life. Sam stood up in his crib just like that for the 1st time at barely 10 months and has the exact same expressions and sounds! Soooo cute. Couldn't you just eat them up? Pure love on a spoon:) We have always thought that our (his great) grandparents were talking to Sam when he looks around intently at giggles knowingly. Thank you for sharing Ben's special moment. He is a Super cutie:) xo Leia

i think i am going to die of the cuteness!!!

and he was totally pooping, wasn't he?

Posted by: samin at October 8, 2007 10:20 PM

Oh! So totally precious. Brings back memories of my own little adorable friend from 19 YEARS ago. *sigh* :) Very wonderful. Happy 10 months, Ben!

Posted by: Keri at October 8, 2007 08:58 PM

OMG, he's absolutely adorable!

So animated in his expressions. And it WAS like he was talking to his own little "someone" up there!! Probably his guardian angel who rode along with him to you guys.

Um, only other thing I must say to you in all seriousness now Andrea...BABYPROOF! Yup, he will not forget that moment. In fact, he will forever attempt to stand up and then move from that point on and life will get, well, um, a bit more hectic if you can imagine that, lol.

You could so see the realization on his face of this accomplishment. I remember my daughters showing that too, like, hey, "I didn't know I could do this...if I can do this, I wonder what ELSE I can do with these two things (legs)."

Get your running shoes on mama, you're about to start chasing that little man real soon. Congrats!

This has made me evening. Such sweetness. I have no doubt it was angels, or god himself. Thank you for sharing your loveliness.
