Praying

grass_stalks_lomo.jpg
grass at Alameda beach, CA, Canon Rebel XTI

It doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don't try
to make them elaborate, this isn't
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

And speaking of thanks... Thank YOU, Andrea. Your "no fail" post inspired me to do this:

I feel great about it. I needed it.

Catching up on all your recent posts.
They are lovely: the photos, words, the way you see things and how you offer them here.
And this poem is a favorite of mine.
It made my morning to come here and read it again and be reminded.

This is a beautiful photo!!

Hey, I got that journal that you talked about (wreck this journal) and wondered how that was going for you. I haven't been able to do anything with mine except look at every page. I just know I'll be okay once I start, but I can't bring myself to touch a pen to the paper.

the doorway...into thanks...

I just read this M. Oliver poem the other day -- it's beautiful. As is your photo...which I meant to say at the other place, if I didn't.
