Get ready, I'm going to seduce you

As most of you know, I am teaching a photography/coaching workshop at Squam in New Hampshire this year. I am so full hearted thinking about meeting all of you and having such a creative, fun and joyous time playing with our cameras. (For a full description of the classes, click here)

It truly feels like girl camp to me... a time to play, explore our creative insides and be with like-minded and cool women. I remember being so moved and teary when I saw the trailer for Girls Rock, the rock camp for girls that was started in Portland, Oregon. I remember feeling so happy it existed and wished that I had been able to do something like that when I was a kid. Then I realized that it's not too late! that Squam can be our girl camp! where we too get to practice using our voice, exploring our creative sparks, and feeling empowered and lifted up by it all. Watch this and get the kleenex ready!

Even though we won't be learning to play guitar, we will have a true rock star there! Jonatha Brooke will be performing by the campfire just for us! She has a brand new album coming out in late August and we will be among the first to hear it... This is the part where I squeal and do cartwheels in my office . (If you aren't familiar with her music, listen to one of my favorite songs here.

I am also blessed beyond belief to have not one, not two, but three incredibly talented and hottie assistants with me for my classes: the awesome Jen Gray, Boho Girl Denise and Jonatha Brooke. I will be the lead facilitator for the day but these talented ladies will be my roving angels helping me and you as the day progresses.

Oh, and as if that's not enough, Christine Mason Miller (aka Swirly) is going to launch her fabulous new book ORDINARY SPARKLING MOMENTS at Squam. You can pre-order it right now or preview it and buy it at Squam.

So sign up folks! What are you waiting for? We're going to have an amazing time.

And one more thing.

For those of you who don't fancy yourself an artist, this workshop is for you too.
For those of you know there is a creative spark in you that doesn't get expressed, we want you there.

Most of us didn't get to go to a girls rock camp at age thirteen and now is our chance. This is about learning to use our voice, empowering ourselves and empowering each other.

I want to see YOU there. Waddya say?

this news made my day! i couldn't wait for squam before...and now THIS! i'm so freakin' excited.

wow, Andrea! Thank you for the wonderful link to girls rock camp. As the mother to an (almost) 8 year old, I am very much into girl power, esp at those ages where girl's confidence is a fragile thing.
And as for your own girls rock camp, sounds so amazing! I wanted to mention that I took a photography/meditation workshop at The Penland School in NC last summer, to get my juices flowing again.
It was one of the best times of my life, and the meditation angle added such depth. I can tell your workshop will have that same special thing.
(My nostalgia & connection to your post is going crazy right now, having lived in NH & ME for many years.)
Thanks again for your gift of spreading the superhero vibe.

Well, this is more coincidence - if there is any! I just finished reading all through your blog -whew! last week and I wanted to post on here because I am in your class at Squam and now this post comes up! Cool! I am taking your Sat class so I hope to hike the mountain too. I am from Ontario so I am driving down. I love NH and I am hoping it will be like camp too! I am taking Penelopes class on travel journaling too. My 3rd class is Judy Wise. I just met Elizabeth at Artfest in April and she is wonderful.
See you then!

I'm excited about Squam. I've been saying that I'm also nervous about it, because it's definitely outside of my comfort zone. (I'm a writer who wants to be an artist-artist.) (whatever that really is) But lately I've tried to tune in to my internal voice a little more closely and realized that I think I *should* be nervous. Or rather, I assumed that I *would* be nervous. And so I told myself that I *am* nervous. But I'm done telling myself that story. I think Squam is going to feel like home and I can't wait.

This sounds like soooooooo much fun....I wish I could do everything.

Posted by: Leslie at June 2, 2008 06:15 PM

Can you package all that fun up and send it my way :)
Sounds like so much fun, wish I could be there!!

I want to be there..I just wish I had a way. Now that I know spots are still open I am going to do some heave research into how I can get that money. This is such an amazing workshop....I have dreamed of a work shop like this and of meeting all of those amazing women!!! I am going to go out and start looking!!!

Posted by: Jennifer at June 2, 2008 05:27 PM

Yes, I'm so excited about Squam too! I've "known" Elizabeth for many years, so I'm thrilled to be able to save enough to go. I agree - it is going to be a wonderful girl camp!

I stalk all of these women's blogs regularly, so I"m so excited to meet everyone! I am already so excited about SQUAM (and a little nervous) but your blog post just made me jump up and down and clap and squeal in my (very quiet, rather conservative) office. I've just confirmed to my entire workplace that I'm nuts. Oh well...I get to meet you and Boho and Jen Gray and Swirly and Jonatha!!! I am so incredibly excited! I'm counting the days!

O this sounds so good, it's just that i live in the netherlands and have no clue as to how i'm gonna buy a plane ticket to the US. Otherwise, I would have been there, for sure.

There isn't a european version of squam in the works, is there ;)
