"Be true, true to yourself Be kind, believe in others’ help -Jonatha Brooke, from a song in progress for Tinkerbell Posted on August 4, 2008 09:59 AMComments
Hi Andrea, I'd like to get to know Jonatha's music better. I found a song of hers - "Madonna On the Curb" - on a compilation I just bought, and loved it. Can you recommend which album is a good place to start? Do you have a favorite or two? Posted by: dona Bumgarner at August 9, 2008 11:58 AMHi Andrea, I'd like to get to know Jonatha's music better. I remember Keri struggling with the ad issue on her blog when Dooce made the decision. Not being in your position, I don't have much of an opinion; just a huge amount of respect for your journey and your willingness to share it online to whomever reads it. I do have a problem with the idea that creative endeavors should be "above" commerce. There is so little support for artists, yet they are regularly asked to donate work, etc. I read a lot of sites with advertising and I rarely choose to click on the ads. In Andrea's case, I might make an exception. Posted by: jen at August 6, 2008 10:43 AMGorgeous photo and true sentiments! Posted by: Paris Parfait at August 6, 2008 08:36 AMJust wanted to say I've read your blog for a long time and not only are you a writer and creator, but a business woman, and I look up to you for making a small business successful. So people can whine all they want about sponsors, but if you weren't trying to grow in that direction, I'd be more worried. Go forth and make some money for what you do. You deserve it. Someday I hope to do the same :) Posted by: becca at August 5, 2008 09:16 PMWOW... lots going on here of late :) I am excited for you about your redesign... and as for sponsorship, I think this is just such a generous and supportive thing for you to do. Thank you so much for your blog and all you share! xo -Leia Posted by: Leia at August 4, 2008 01:03 PMAndrea- I've been on vacation and have been catching up on the posts on your blog. Wow, some crazy times! I'm SO excited for your blog redesign... I also read dooce religiously and I don't think ads changed her writing at all. It's still hilarious, full of great photos. I don't think it'll change your writing and beautiful images either. You're a wonderful person and I'm sure you thought long and hard about that decision. Did I read where someone was comparing sponsorships on blogs to coke dealers and oil drillers? Wow. That's quite a leap indeed. I'm in support of your decision and am waiting on pins and needles for the new look! Posted by: Morgan Gardner at August 4, 2008 11:42 AMAmen! So fitting in the midst of the flurry. That gal sure knows how to make a lyric dance.
