August 29, 2008Little Bird
When considering my favorite songs these days, I noticed that something strange was going on. They were all called Little Bird! or something like it. If I could make you a mix cd of my little bird songs, the mix would go like this: Little Bird of Heaven by the Reeltime Travelers Little Bird by Jonatha Brooke: This is off of Jonatha's new album and is my favorite track. It's the sweetest little song in the world. Little Bird by The Weepies: This is from their newest album Hideaway Little Sparrow The Littlest Birds I'm Like a Bird Comments
thats for sure, bro Posted by: dinuearresee at September 21, 2008 03:48 PMHey, I'm a bird fan too- Little Bird by the Weepies is a staple of mine as well as Little Sparrow by Dolly. Gotta love Dolly. Posted by: Eileen Weigand at September 7, 2008 08:54 AMIt doesn't have a bird title but "Winter's Come and Gone" by Gillian Welch is a great bird song to add to your list. I like this game! I did the same thing with "heart" and "horses" - made compilations with songs that had those words in their lyrics. Posted by: Becca at September 2, 2008 09:41 AMWhat about Little Wing by Dereck and the Dominos? Posted by: Amanda at September 1, 2008 09:32 AMAlso chiming in on the love for Elizabeth Mitchell and her You Are My Little Bird CD. So adorable. I bought it for myself (and the Kid) and then played it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY in my preschool class during craft time. (I am one of those people - I play a CD to death - I get obsessed!) Posted by: Sam at August 31, 2008 08:11 PMYou forgot 'three little birds' by Bob Marley! It's my instant-happiness song. Best saved for miserable mornings when you cannot bear to get out of bed- turn this up loud and you will be singing yourself on your way to work :-) Posted by: katie at August 31, 2008 02:53 PMYou're so great, Andrea! One of my all time faves is Annie Lenox's Little Bird ~ used to get crazy with this one in my Beetle Convertible. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI0gdIWJ4-w Posted by: Trisha at August 31, 2008 11:30 AMlove the picture of the bird ! Posted by: m at August 31, 2008 03:56 AMI also clicked to comment to tell you about Elizabeth Mitchell and her Little Bird song. My son loves it, too. And, she's playing at Cafe Du Nord next weekend during the day. We are thinking of going. Let me know if you are interested! Posted by: RookieMom Whitney at August 30, 2008 07:48 PMThe timing of this post couldn't be more perfect. I am making a birthday playlist for a friend who is crazy about anything to do with birds. So thanks to all who have posted in addition to Andrea. Here is my own contribution, a Canadian classic - Anne Murray singing Snowbird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbigu8Kqihk&feature=related Posted by: Lianne at August 30, 2008 06:26 PMLittle bird One of my favorite songs about birds is a Swedish song called Flyg Vilda Fågel (fly wild bird) by Lisa Ekdahl. It's just lovely. You can give it a listen here: There's clearly something going on with all those little birds...my favourite of those ones ( that I know already) is the one by the fabulously named Be Good Tanyas. Posted by: Rhiannon at August 30, 2008 12:47 PMi have had The Littlest Birds song in my head for two weeks now! I love it! You simply must check out Christabel and the Jons...they sing a beautiful version of that song. they are an old time folk/swing type of music. amazing band! and beautiful, fun, kind folks to boot! Posted by: Brenda at August 29, 2008 04:07 PMDon't forget "The Littlest Birds" by Jolie Holland. It's one of my faves. :) Posted by: Deann B. at August 29, 2008 02:33 PMYes, I too admit it's poppy and sweet, but I do love the Nelly Furtado. I'll have to check out the others and am looking forward to hearing Jonatha at Squam. (I'm not in your class, but I do want to meet you!) Posted by: Heather at August 29, 2008 02:17 PMOne of my favorite songs is Three Little Birds by Barb Marley. Lately I've been especially loving Elizabeth Mitchell's cover version of this featuring her husband and little daughter as backup. Posted by: Missy at August 29, 2008 01:56 PM |
