October 12, 2009See you next week*
A Few Reasons Why I Haven't Been Around Much Lately 1. I am giving my whole heart to Mondo Beyondo! and most of my writing and life force is over there. If you haven't taken the course yet, it's rockin people. We are having such a good time! and January registration just opened. 2. We've been recovering from swine flu. Yes, it happened to us. My entire family, including Ben. It is terrible and horrible and you probably want to get vaccinated for it. Tamiflu saved our ass. 3. I have been preparing for a most wonderful week away at Liz Lamoreux's Be Present Retreat I will be teaching the first day of class and then thoroughly enjoying Kelly Rae and Liz's class the following days. Can't wait to be back on the Oregon coast! 4. I've been trying to use Twitter but I still don't totally see the point. 5. Ben, Ben, and delicious Ben.
See you next week, everybody! Comments
your boy is so sweet! I love your blog - always inspirational. sorry to hear about swine flu . . I never get seasonal flu shots but since my husband is a health care worker we're getting swine flu shots this year (and b/c I'm pregnant). I also use Twitter but don't see the point. I only update it when I remember I have an account - that's about once a month. oops! haha Posted by: Jess at October 31, 2009 11:26 AMSorry to hear about Swine Flu.... and I totally concur... I still don't get Twitter either. Posted by: Kerilyn at October 19, 2009 06:34 PMI've just found your blog - wonderful! I've just found your blog - wonderful! I've just found your blog - wonderful! I've just found your blog - wonderful! You know I'll be thinking of you next week, sending you huge FUN vibes! And hooraaaay for Mondo Beyondo! :D Posted by: Laura Neff - Life Leadership Coach at October 18, 2009 06:36 PMSo Ben is going to be, what, 3 this year? He totally looks older than that (or wiser, or whatever....). Looks like a cool customer, just like his parents!! Posted by: Jennifer at October 17, 2009 10:09 AMI'm so sorry you guys had the dreaded swine flu! Hope you're all feeling better now. I've been felled by the wasting plague this week myself (though not the swine variety, thank goodness), and it's not the most fun I've ever had. My story of Twitter conversion: I recently connected with one of my favorite artists (are you at all familiar with Brian Andreas or Storypeople?) via Twitter and he gave me a job! TWITTER WILL OWN MY HEART FOREVER. Especially if it manages to send me a husband next. :) Posted by: Moose at October 16, 2009 01:57 PMHi Andrea, I've had similar misgivings about twitter. I think i might blog about it soon. ;-) This week, we had Greg Pincus speak to a group of children's book writers and illustrators in Seattle, and he made a wonderfully compelling case for social media as a means to establish and maintain connection FIRST (before any goals to sell books or get speaking engagements or whatever). There is nothing you MUST do, only the things that build connection in a fun way for YOU. That said, i'm trying twitter. We'll see if it's fun for me. Posted by: Jet Harrington at October 15, 2009 01:13 PMso glad you made it through the flu okay...tim and i were slammed by it a month ago, it skipped the boys somehow. we are just waiting on the vaccine down here in l.a. but i did not wait on the mondo. i registered the other day and feel so good about. it was my little early birthday present to myself. looking forward to it eagerly. :) amiee Posted by: mamie at October 13, 2009 10:13 PMGlad you all recovered! You have motivated me to get the kids vaccinated. Enjoy the coast. Posted by: nicole h. at October 13, 2009 09:34 PMaaauuughghhh!!! the swine!!! so glad you're recovering. I had it three weeks ago and am just now starting to feel normal. and yes, ben is delicious. Posted by: jenn at October 13, 2009 10:47 AMI'm so sorry about your swine flu. Blech. How did I sneak into that shot? Posted by: schmutzie at October 13, 2009 10:01 AMSo glad that you and your family are feeling better! And so relieved to hear that so many others have mixed feelings about Twitter. (I thought it was just me.) I realized that by trying to capture moments in a tweet, I was really missing them. (I have the same problem with my camera sometimes.) And, honestly, I'm really not that interesting on a day-to-day, minute-by-minute basis. I've decided to stick with old school blogging, so I can give the sweetest moments and deepest thoughts their due. Happy travels! Posted by: Julie at October 13, 2009 09:20 AMi hope you have a wonderful time on the coast. oregon is on my (long) list of places to see one day. twitter works for me. the folks i follow provide a great stream of interesting links and ideas; some work related, some not. Posted by: amy at October 13, 2009 05:08 AMsending healthy vibes your way! and i sooo hear you about Twitter. ;) be well. Posted by: sperlygirl at October 13, 2009 02:16 AMMaybe you should try twittering on a locked feed with all your girlfriends who you don't see all the time. Trust me, you'd see the point then. It's like having a tiny team of cheerleaders inside your head. Better actually. A tiny team of smart wry cheerleaders. Public twitter is not like blogging. Actually, it's a little icky. Posted by: Meg at October 12, 2009 07:25 PMOh no to swine flu. My friends family had it and said it was the worst. So glad to hear someone else say that they don't get Twitter. I only signed up recently and I try as I might I just don't find it very engaging. Mondo Beyondo on the other hand is food for the soul.
